There is a bit of me that says, “Finally, I continue watching this anime.” Yes, I’m guilty of getting sidetracked by other things like other anime, video games, college, and other stuff that’s happening in real life. That’s why the reviews haven’t been popping up lately.

However, here we are now, and this anime is as enjoyable as much as it was when I kinda left it. And, finally, I didn’t expect the peak of the romance, so to speak, is happening in this episode!

Continuing From Episode 5

Itsuomi kisses Yuki's hand
This scene is such a payoff.

The first scene that welcomed me was Itsuomi kissing Yuki’s hand. Oh man, feels like it’s been ages since I feel this kind of glee. I get it that receiving this kind of treatment will make anyone lightheaded, even if you’re the manliest dwarf in Deep Rock Galactic.

On the other hand, Itsuomi’s communication is not exactly verbally direct. He’s someone who uses physical contact to say what’s in his mind. And you know what, I think it will work tremendously for Yuki and Itsuomi once they become a couple.

To me, this anime is a perfect romance escapism. Though, I know I’m way behind and not so up to date, but so far this is anime is my favorite when I want to taste some love. Unfortunately, Itsuomi drops the fact that he’s going abroad (again). Will he take Yuki and show her the world? I wonder.

This Might Be The Cringiest Way To Get A Girl’s Number

Alright, moving on from Itsuomi, we are welcomed by Oushi in the next scene. Sigh… how can we help this guy? First off, he clearly has a feeling for Yuki, but he’s not exactly suave in expressing it. Worse of all, he treats Yuki as if she’s a helpless little sister. A huge turn-off in my opinion.

On top of that, he asks her mother to give him Yuki’s number. If my long history of being rejected by girls teaches me anything, it’s never involve parents to get ahead in approaching girls. What’s worse, he does it because he suspects Yuki has been spending time with Itsuomi. Oh my, there is no helping him.

Yeah, Yuki might have a bit of disadvantage in her life due to her hearing impairment. Yeah, she might be an innocent, pretty girl. Yeah, she might be a kindhearted person who has never been in a romantic relationship. But, if we pretend to be her “white knight”, we’ll just be an annoyance to that girl and to everyone else watching. Don’t be an Oushi!

A Sudden Confession?

Itsuomi message
Itsuomi’s urgency to confess

Alright, moving on from Oushi we’re back to Itsuomi and Yuki. This gotta be the main course of this episode. Itsuomi takes Yuki outside the café and made a confession. A confession! How could I not see this at the beginning of the episode?

The whole scene is a fanservice for romance anime fans. It’s almost like the imagination we fantasized back when we had our first crush on someone. Here’s what Itsoumi seems to lack, though. All his feelings can’t be read from his facial expression. He barely lifts a muscle on his face when things happen around him. However, retrospectively, all his actions give us a glimpse of his true feeling for Yuki.

He always observed Yuki from afar, and approach her when given the chance. He immediately worried about her seeing Emma giving his key back and what Emma shouted. Also, of course, this guy senses that Oushi takes a liking to Yuki. Itsuomi can be surprisingly possessive, well, still in a healthy amount, though.

Itsuomi confesses to Yuki
It’s confession time!

Back to his confession. Itsuomi apparently just can’t wait to confess after his next trip. Clearly, he is not a person who can contain every emotion within himself. What caught me a bit off guard was the callback to the first time he smiled, and Yuki’s happy face and cute jumps.

And of course, everyone’s favorite, surely. Itsuomi confesses his feelings through sign language, using words that he learned himself. Now, he really knows how to connect with Yuki and showing his sincere interest toward her world. I hope, at some point, this anime switch to his perspective for a bit. I wonder what has been going on inside his head.

Funnily enough, Itsuomi is so nonchalant when he tells Rin and Kyouya. “By the way, we’re a couple now.” and he casually put his hands around Yuki. This guy! Haha. Speaking of Rin and Kyouya, I hope when I watch the next episodes, they’ll get a bit more development. These two’s awkwardness is something we all can relate.

Itsuomi hugs Yuki from behind
Itsuomi’s embrace seems to convey his love the best.

Alright, lastly. There is one last thing that I want to tell you. You see, with Yuki’s hearing impairment, there’s bound to be a difference when it comes to communication. There’s one little scene where Itsuomi is about to part ways and calls out to her. Well, of course she doesn’t hear his call. My heart broke just a tiny bit seeing this.

It must’ve been something new for Itsuomi as well, as he seems to be not familiar with how Yuki would response to the usual interaction people without a disability can have. But, props to him, though. He sees what Yuki can get the most, physical touch. It seems to comfort her the most out of their entire interaction. In future episodes, I expect to get more perspective on how hearing loss affect the relationship, since Yuki and Itsuomi’s romance has entered a new stage.
